Five PU Physicians Win Patient Awards

Pacific Urology docs dominate East Bay urology category in latest patient endorsements on Vitals.com
Concord, CA (April 20, 2011) - Pacific Urology physicians Judson M. Brandeis, Brian D. Hopkins, and Parminder Sethi of Contra Costa County join two of their colleagues as recipients of the latest "Patients' Choice Award" from the popular rate-your-doctor website Vitals.com.
The annual award - based on more than 800,000 patient reviews nationwide - goes only to doctors who earn four-star ratings on the site, which amounts to fewer than six percent. "The honor is bestowed to physicians who have received near-perfect scores as voted by patients," the website says. The site already honored their colleagues Jeremy Lieb and Stephen P. Taylor weeks previously.
This year's honor has gone to only nine urologists in two of California's most densely populated counties (Alameda and Contra Costa) - of which five are members of the 16-year-old Pacific Urology group. Criteria for the award include patients' online feedback on each physician's quality of care, post-appointment follow-up, bedside manner, and office staff courtesy.
Dr. Brandeis has been at the forefront of innovative techniques to treat female incontinence and pelvic reconstructive surgery and was the first urologist in the Bay Area to perform a robotically-assisted cystectomy.
Dr. Sethi's expertise for enlarged prostate, erectile dysfunction, kidney and urinary conditions has earned him
Patients' Choice Award annually since 2008. On Vitals.com, one of patients from Pleasonton wrote she had "interacted with physicians for over 30 years and...Dr. Sethi, his office staff and practice management are among the tops in my experience."
Curby Miller, a patient of
Dr. Hopkins, also shared praise on Vitals.com for the "dream team," as his wife called the Pacific Urology group. He wrote, "I owe the past eight years of my life to Dr. Brian Hopkins. After being diagnosed with stage four bladder cancer and holding little hope of survival, he tackled my care with the right amount of aggressiveness. I am grateful that he did not give up on me, an 81-year old man at the time. I soon will be celebrating my 89th birthday!"
